I actually didn't see Totoro until I was already a young adult, but I think it perfectly captures what it feels like to be a child in a world too big to really understand. I love the way that Totoro stands for safety and magic and I was so touched by this film, I wanted to create my own little slice of Totoro magic in the painting.
